National Career Day offers a unique opportunity for employers and job seekers to meet outside the context of traditional job interviews. “This day is all about connection and insight,” says Imre Meier, communications specialist at JobOn. “It offers a chance to break down preconceptions and truly understand what’s going on in different sectors.” For CAOP, an organization specializing in labor market issues, this day was a great opportunity to raise awareness of their name and encourage their contacts to expand their networks.

CAOP’s Role and Experience: An Inside Look

Kim Davelaar, project manager at CAOP, shares her experiences: “For us, the Career Visit Day was an opportunity to talk about what we do and to meet potential new colleagues. Seven of us participated in the Career Visit Day. In total, we spoke with more than 30 interested candidates, both in person and online. The interaction with JobOn played a crucial role in the event’s success. The collaboration was very fruitful,” Davelaar adds. “It was an opportunity to exchange thoughts and gain new ideas.”

The Challenges of the Labor Market

In a time of rapid change in the labor market, employers face various challenges, such as finding qualified staff and adapting to new work models. Meier of JobOn emphasizes: “The Workplace Visit Day helps bridge the gap between employers and job seekers.” Such initiatives not only provide insight into the dynamics of various sectors but also contribute to solving broader labor market issues.

Career Development

“Thanks to this and the previous Career Visit Day, we’ve found no fewer than three new colleagues at the CAOP, and we know that one candidate has returned to work in healthcare thanks to the help of a colleague of mine.” According to Davelaar, the impact of the Job Fair is also palpable: “All the colleagues who conducted interviews were themselves completely re-energized after all the interviews had taken place.”

Reflection and Vision for the Future

Looking back on the Workplace Visit Day, Davelaar reflects: “It’s an investment of time and energy that pays off.” The future of such events looks promising. Meier concludes: “We want to continue to grow and innovate so that the Workplace Visit Day can have an even greater impact on the Dutch labor market.” For CAOP and many other organizations, the Work Visit Day is more than just a day; it’s a catalyst for growth and connection.
