Every year, National Job Fair Day offers a unique opportunity for companies and job seekers to connect with one another. Organized by JobOn, this event aims to bridge the gap between employers and job seekers and thereby promote an inclusive job market.

The Origins of National Work Visit Day

Work Visit Day was conceived in 2013 by Prof. Dr. Ton Wilthagen as a local initiative. “After a successful collaboration with Prof. Ton Wilthagen, we rolled out the Work Visit Day initiative nationwide a few years ago,” says Imre Meier, project coordinator at JobOn. This allows job seekers throughout the Netherlands to visit all kinds of companies in a single day. “At JobOn, we believe in the power of networking,” Imre emphasizes.

The Benefits of Participating

The National Workplace Visit Day offers numerous benefits for both companies and job seekers. Imre explains: “Participating in the Workplace Visit Day is a great way to practice corporate social responsibility, strengthen your employer brand, and meet talented job seekers. It gives employers the opportunity to look beyond the resume and truly connect with potential talent.”

For job seekers, the event is an excellent opportunity to network and get a behind-the-scenes look at various companies. “You get a lot of information about a wide variety of companies and plenty of opportunities to meet people and network,” says Imre. “It helps job seekers make more informed career choices.”

Success Stories: The Power of the Workplace Visit Day

There are countless stories that show just how effective the Work Experience Day can be. A great example is the story of Miriam Wickham, a social psychologist who is about to earn her Ph.D. “I didn’t know ZINZIZ, but I was drawn to their fascinating field of work,” Miriam says. After an informative conversation, she decided she would like to work at ZINZIZ. This conversation ultimately led to a job as a researcher at ZINZIZ, where she is now working to promote greater inclusion within the social sector.

Bridging the Gap

National Open House Day helps bridge the gap between employers and job seekers. Many employers are embracing the idea by opening their doors to curious job seekers. “There are still many people on the sidelines, and many are not in the right place in their current jobs. The Workplace Visit Day helps reduce the mismatch in the labor market and ensures that talent is better utilized,” says Imre.

Various industries and companies

A wide range of industries and companies are participating in National Career Day. From health and wellness to engineering, manufacturing, and construction, the diversity of participating companies is vast. “We’re seeing participation from all corners of the job market,” says Imre. “This makes it a multifaceted and valuable day for job seekers.”

Register for the Field Trip Day

Interested companies and job seekers can easily register via the website: http://www.werkbezoekdag.nl. “By participating in this event, employers can increase their visibility and meet new talent, while job seekers get the chance to explore different companies and industries,” Imre concludes. “Join us for the Career Exploration Day on November 19 and discover what this event can do for you.”
